    Efficient chain structure for high-utility sequential pattern mining

    High-utility sequential pattern mining (HUSPM) is an emerging topic in data mining, which considers both utility and sequence factors to derive the set of high-utility sequential patterns (HUSPs) from the quantitative databases. Several works have been presented to reduce the computational cost by variants of pruning strategies. In this paper, we present an efficient sequence-utility (SU)-chain structure, which can be used to store more relevant information to improve mining performance. Based on the SU-Chain structure, the existing pruning strategies can also be utilized here to early prune the unpromising candidates and obtain the satisfied HUSPs. Experiments are then compared with the state-of-the-art HUSPM algorithms and the results showed that the SU-Chain-based model can efficiently improve the efficiency performance than the existing HUSPM algorithms in terms of runtime and number of the determined candidates

    Vehicle Trajectory Tracking Through Magnetic Sensors

    Traffic surveillance is an important issue in Intelligent Transportation Systems(ITS). In this paper, we propose a novel surveillance system to detect and track vehicles using ubiquitously deployed magnetic sensors. That is, multiple magnetic sensors, mounted roadside and along lane boundary lines, are used to track various vehicles. Real-time vehicle detection data are reported from magnetic sensors, collected into data center via base stations, and processed to depict vehicle trajectories including vehicle position, timestamp, speed and type. We first define a vehicle trajectory tracking problem. We then propose a graph-based data association algorithm to track each detected vehicle, and design a related online algorithm framework respectively. We finally validate the performance via both experimental simulation and real-world road test. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed solution provides a cost-effective solution to capture the driving status of vehicles and on that basis form various traffic safety and efficiency applications

    Synergistic effect of a combination of granulocyte macrophage colony-stimulating factor and thymosin Ī±1 on Lewis lung cancer transplanted tumor in mice

    Purpose: To study the synergistic effect of a combination of granulocyte-macrophage colonystimulating factor and thymosin-Ī±1 on the treatment of Lewis lung cancer transplanted tumor.Methods: C57BL/6 mice were used. A mouse model of Lewis lung cancer was established using Lewis lung cancer cell lines. The mice were randomly divided into blank control group, polyene taxol (DTX) group, DTX thymosin Ī±1 (TĪ±-1) group, and DTX granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor (GM-CSF) group, with 8 mice per group. The degree of tumor inhibition, thymus mass, thymus index, spleen mass, spleen index, IL-6, TNF-1, IFN-1, CD4+, CD8+ T cells and the ratio of CD4+/CD8+ were determined by ELISA and flow cytometry.Results: Body mass, thymus mass, thymus index, spleen mass, spleen index, IL-6, TNF-1, IFN-1, CD4+, CD8+ T cells and the ratio of CD4+/CD8+ in DTX + TĪ±-1 group, DTX + GM-CSF group and DTX + TĪ±-1 + GM-CSF group were significantly elevated (p < 0.05), relative to the corresponding levels in DTXmice (p < 0.05). Body mass, degree of tumor inhibition, thymus mass, thymus index, spleen mass, spleen index, IL-6, TNF-1, IFN-1, CD4, CD8 T cells and CD4+/CD8+ ratio in DTX + TĪ±-1 + GM-CSF mice were significantly elevated, relative to the DTX + TĪ±-1 and DTX + GM-CSF groups (p < 0.05). Thestate of the tumor was significantly improved in the DTX + TĪ±-1 and DTX + GM-CSF mice.Conclusion: A combination treatment of GM-CSF, TĪ±-1 and DEX effectively enhances the resistance of mice and suppresses chemotherapy-induced decrease in body weight.     Scalable Mining of High-Utility Sequential Patterns With Three-Tier MapReduce Model

    High-utility sequential pattern mining (HUSPM) is a hot research topic in recent decades since it combines both sequential and utility properties to reveal more information and knowledge rather than the traditional frequent itemset mining or sequential pattern mining. Several works of HUSPM have been presented but most of them are based on main memory to speed up mining performance. However, this assumption is not realistic and not suitable in large-scale environments since in real industry, the size of the collected data is very huge and it is impossible to fit the data into the main memory of a single machine. In this article, we first develop a parallel and distributed three-stage MapReduce model for mining high-utility sequential patterns based on large-scale databases. Two properties are then developed to hold the correctness and completeness of the discovered patterns in the developed framework. In addition, two data structures called sidset and utility-linked list are utilized in the developed framework to accelerate the computation for mining the required patterns. From the results, we can observe that the designed model has good performance in large-scale datasets in terms of runtime, memory, efficiency of the number of distributed nodes, and scalability compared to the serial HUSP-Span approach.acceptedVersio

    Regeneration of Pancreatic Ī²-Cells for Diabetes Therapeutics by Natural DYRK1A Inhibitors

    The pathogenesis of diabetes mellitus is characterized by insulin resistance and islet Ī²-cell dysfunction. Up to now, the focus of diabetes treatment has been to control blood glucose to prevent diabetic complications. There is an urgent need to develop a therapeutic approach to restore the mass and function of Ī²-cells. Although exogenous islet cell transplantation has been used to help patients control blood glucose, it is costly and has very narrow application scenario. So far, small molecules have been reported to stimulate Ī²-cell proliferation and expand Ī²-cell mass, increasing insulin secretion. Dual-specificity tyrosine-regulated kinase 1A (DYRK1A) inhibitors can induce human Ī²-cell proliferation in vitro and in vivo, and show great potential in the field of diabetes therapeutics. From this perspective, we elaborated on the mechanism by which DYRK1A inhibitors regulate the proliferation of pancreatic Ī²-cells, and summarized several effective natural DYRK1A inhibitors, hoping to provide clues for subsequent structural optimization and drug development in the future

    Species Diversity of Deadwood in Chinese Fir Plantations Differs between Mixed Planting and Thinning Treatments

    The occurrence of deadwood is inevitable during the process of plantation conversion, but the influences of conversion and the potential environmental effect on deadwood species diversity remain unclear. We established two fixed plots in Chinese fir thinned forest (TF) and Chinese fir and Michelia macclurei Dandy mixed forest (MF) (100 Ɨ 80 and 120 Ɨ 60 m2, respectively). We classified the deadwood into groups based on origin and by status, and analyzed deadwood species diversity using four common diversity indices. We also investigated the contribution of topographic factors to tree mortality using redundancy analysis. The species composition of deadwood differed markedly between the MF and TF. The species diversity and variety of deadwood status were greater for the TF than MF, although abundance was lower. Topography was poorly correlated with deadwood in the MF, while in the TF, altitude was strongly correlated with deadwood from Chinese fir, shade-intolerant late-coming populations, and fallen wood. Slope was negatively correlated with late-coming populations and fallen wood, but deadwood correlations with convexity were weak. These results indicate that cultivation methods strongly alter the species composition, status, abundance and diversity of deadwood in plantations.     Subcritical Butane Extraction of Wheat Germ Oil and Its Deacidification by Molecular Distillation

    Extraction and deacidification are important stages for wheat germ oil (WGO) production. Crude WGO was extracted using subcritical butane extraction (SBE) and compared with traditional solvent extraction (SE) and supercritical carbon dioxide extraction (SCE) based on the yield, chemical index and fatty acid profile. Furthermore, the effects of the molecular distillation temperature on the quality of WGO were also investigated in this study. Results indicated that WGO extracted by SBE has a higher yield of 9.10% and better quality; at the same time, its fatty acid composition has no significant difference compared with that of SE and SCE. The molecular distillation experiment showed that the acid value, peroxide value and p-anisidine value of WGO were reduced with the increase of the evaporation temperatures, and the contents of the active constituents of tocopherol, polyphenols and phytosterols are simultaneously decreased. Generally, the distillation temperature of 150 Ā°C is an appropriate condition for WGO deacidification with the higher deacidification efficiency of 77.78% and the higher retention rate of active constituents

The food industryā€”a pillar for national economyā€”faces the major demand for high-quality development. In this study, we analyze the concept and significance of high-quality development of food industry from three dimensions: macro level, industry, and enterprise management, and summarize the current status and problems related to the food industry development. Subsequently, we build an evaluation index system using the statistical yearbook data; we use this system to study the development level of the food industry in recent years and comprehensively evaluate the development quality of the industry. Moreover, we propose a high-quality development path for Chinaā€™s food industry in terms of policy, science and technology, platform, talent team, ecosystem, and shared manufacturing. To promote high-quality development of food industry, China should improve the system and mechanism for the innovative development of the industry, adhere to green development, strengthen the research and development of core technologies and special equipment for food industry, establish a platform system and mechanism, and build a food science and technology talent team
